Google News has made it easier to customize its home page with the creation of a Custom Sections Directory that includes material created both by Google and by Google News users.
The directory includes sections such as “Mobile Technology,” “Google,” “Social Networking,” “Apple Inc.” and “NFL.” You can browse the directory by category (Business, Science, Sports, etc.) or search for custom sections by keyword. The directory also offers tools to create new custom sections based on zip code or keyword and add them to the public directory.
When done, the sections you’ve added will appear as links in the left-side menu and as new sections at the bottom of the Google News home page.
According to today’s announcement, this new directory is available to Google News editions in Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States, with more countries to be added in the future.
