Vancouver to Shanghai, China – $732 roundtrip after taxes

UPDATE: Looks like other Asian destinations that China Eastern flys to (which is a lot of destinations) are on sale too.

Here’s the China Eastern Route Map

Beijing is at $795 roundtrip.

Tokyo or Osaka are at $865 roundtrip.

———————–

China Eastern just made a large price drop on a huge number of their flights throughout a large chunk of their schedule. Flights are about 30% cheaper than their next closest competitor.

There looks to be availability on a large number of flights from November 2012 all the way up to the end of April 2013.

Here’s an example of how to find the fare:

1.http://www.vayama.com/

2. Search for a flight from Seattle (SEA) to Tokyo (HND) – note that it needs to be Tokyo’s HND airport.

Departing May 30, returning June 13

For those who might have missed the crazy prices to Chicago back in early April, Westjet is at it again, only ever so slightly cheaper this time…

Vancouver to Amsterdam, Scotland, Paris, London

Air Transat tends to make their biggest price cuts to Europe sometime within a month of departure. They’re focused on mostly April/May cuts at the moment, but even some June prices have been slashed.

It remains to be seen whether July flights to Europe will experience any price drops, especially with the Olympics in London. If there are to be cuts, they probably wouldn’t make them until late May or June at the earliest.

Here are the interesting ones I’ve seen for April/May/June. All can be found at http://www.airtransat.ca

I’m seeing some very cheap flights to Newark’s (EWR) airport on Delta at the moment. I believe these might actually be as cheap as I’ve ever seen from Vancouver, about 55% cheaper than usual.

It looks to be just select dates in March/April/May, here’s some that I’ve found using Kayak…

Seattle to Amman, Jordan

^^ Yes, it’s the Treasury from Indiana Jones.

There are some really crazy prices out of Seattle to Amman, Jordan (AMM) at the moment. And on a really nice airline too (Emirates). Definitely an amazing deal for anyone looking for an exotic trip.

For comparison, the cheapest flights out of Vancouver to Amman are about $1500. Even for out of Seattle, this is over 50% cheaper than usual.

Here are some example searches on Kayak…

Vancouver to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

There’s a ridiculously cheap last minute flight to the Dominican that just dropped on Air Transat.

Here’s how to find it…

1. http://www.airtransat.ca

2. Leaving from: Vancouver

Flying to: Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Departure Date: Jan 27

Return Date: Feb 03

3. Hit ‘Find Flights’

And yes, that really does say $2 + taxes (a good example of why pre-tax prices are pointless).

I have a feeling this one will sell out pretty quickly. Thanks to Judy for sending in this deal tip!

Last minute flight from Vancouver to Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, Mexico

AirCanadaVacations just drastically slashed the price of their Jan 15-22 flight from Vancouver to Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo (ZIH) airport down to $218 roundtrip after taxes.

Here’s how to find it…

1. http://www.aircanadavacations.com

Note: It’s also available for the same price from Victoria. Do the same search, except from Victoria. The first flight that comes up is $50 more, but if you click on “View more flight options to All Mexico” you’ll find some that are the same price as from Vancouver (but with a layover in Vancouver). Thanks to Angela for pointing that out!

Vancouver to Panama (the country)

Crazy price drops to Central America!! From $382 roundtrip after taxes

American Airlines has just made an unadvertised cut on their fares to Central America from all across Canada. The prices are ridiculous, and I believe the largest overall price cuts from Vancouver to Central America, ever.

Here’s what I’ve discovered so far…

- Prices between February and May look to be affected the most
- Some routes on AA to Central America require an overnight stay in the U.S.

Here are the cities that have dropped , and I’ll provide an example search on Kayak in late February for each one.
Try your own dates and see what comes up. Play around on Kayak to find cheap ones with good routings.

Does Colombia scare you? $477 USD roundtrip after taxes

So I found a flight to Bogota, Colombia (BOG) for $477.50 roundtrip after taxes that leaves in April of 2012. Over 55% cheaper than the cheapest flights to Colombia usually cost, and probably the cheapest flight to South America I’ve ever seen from Vancouver.

When you hear ‘Colombia’ it’s hard not to think of the stereotypes: drugs, kidnappings, crime. But when you actually do the research, the dangers seem to be more cliché than reality.

The more I travel, the more I find that the reputations of ‘dangerous’ places have been greatly exaggerated, usually from people that have never actually stepped foot inside the country.

Vancouver to Lima, Peru

There are some flights to Lima that are about 25-30% cheaper than they ever normally get from Vancouver.

They seem to be available sporadically throughout the first part of 2012. The latest ones in the year I can find are near the end of May. A 3 day flexible date search on Kayak is the best way to find them.

Here’s May 20-30 for example, which involves the long weekend, so that’s one less vacation day to use.

Vancouver to Guangzhou, China

There seems to be some *very* cheap flights to Guangzhou, China showing on Vayama.ca at the moment, particularly for September/October 2012 travel.

Here’s how to find them…

1. Go to http://www.vayama.ca

2. Search for a trip from Vancouver (YVR) to Guangzhou, China (CAN)

Many date combinations in September/October seem to be giving this extremely cheap price. Try September 14 to 28 for example.

3. Hit Search. Depending on the dates you choose, you may see multiple itinerary options. Many of them seem to involve direct flights on the way back to Vancouver, but on the way there the options often look to involve spending a night in Los Angeles.

Seattle to Belize

United/Continental just dropped some of their early December flights from Seattle to Belize by a significant amount. Even from Seattle this price is about 40% cheaper than usual. And they’re fairly quick flights too, with just a short stop in Houston each way.

Here’s the search link on Kayak to find them…

http://www.kayak.com/flights/#SEA-BZE/2011-12-02-flexible/2011-12-09-flexible

Click through to CheapTickets or Expedia. United.com doesn’t accept Canadian credit cards (although you can manually search for the flights on United.ca, which does).

There’s also a good accommodation deal for Belize on DealFind at the moment…

Huge fare war from Vancouver to Amsterdam – $608 roundtrip after taxes

There’s a huge fare war to Amsterdam (AMS) going on at the moment. You do see the occasional charter flight on Air Transat to Amsterdam that drops down to this level, but it’s extremely rare to see many of the major airlines drop a price to Europe like this that affects such a large range of dates.

They look to have dropped the price of most flights that occur between now and mid-May 2012.

Here’s how to find them…
