We know Yahoo BOSS right? That open search web services platform whereby developers can build their own web-scale search products utilizing the Yahoo Search index. Apparently, those who have created their BOSS-based search products are now wanting to monetize their work and asked Yahoo to grant them access to Sponsored Search Ads.Yahoo just granted their wish and so now some BOSS developers can now gain some bucks for the effort they’ve exerted in building their search applications. This was made possible through partnership with Yahoo’s syndication parner Domain Development Corp (DDC)
If you’re a BOSS developer and you want to implement Yahoo’s Sponsored Search Ads to your search app, you need to apply by providing details about your product including traffic sources, UI framework and implementation.
Although you’d be getting access to Yahoo’s Sponsored Search ad program, it should be noted that you are actually entering into a partnership with a third-party and really Yahoo. So, this means you’ll get your earnings from DDC.com and not from Yahoo. Technical support will be provided by the third party as well.
Of course this is prior to the upcoming Yahoo-Microsoft deal search ad deal. Although, it is not yet clear whether BOSS will be included in the deal , expect the Sponsored Search Ads program to be affected once the deal gets running. But it’s still far from fruition, so you might still earn a good amount of money by running Yahoo Sponsored Search Ads on your BOSS services.
